Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Army, and after Basic Training was assigned to the elite Army 82nd Airborne Division, I learned how to be a professional soldier. Distinguishing himself as a soldier as a Master Parachutist Badge (> 100 Jumps), he was selected for Officer's Candidate School (OCS).
Over the next 15 years, he did exactly that, serving worldwide, having the good fortune of commanding a company, then battalion, and serving on a Major Command or Forces Command (FORSCOM)Division Staff. Once he was promoted to Major, he was sent to Graduate School, first completing the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, graduating with Honors, and then on to Baylor University School of Graduate Studies. Here he received a Master of Business and Hospital Administration.
After graduation, Patrick was assigned to command a U.S. Army Hospital in Germany and a Combat Support Hospital for Desert Storm. After more than 20 years in the Military and wanting to spend more time with his family, he left the Military as a Major. Patrick accepted a position as a hospital CEO for Vanguard Health System based in Nashville. At Vanguard, he moved to the payor side, working for a Medicare Advantage Plan as Chief Operating Officer (COO). He remained at Vanguard for three years, growing membership from 4,000 to over 20,000 during my tenure.
His work at Vanguard was noticed by Frost & Sullivan, and he was asked to be their principal health care consultant for North America. At Frost & Sullivan, he began writing and publishing projects for such clients as Google, Microsoft, IBM, GE Healthcare, Samsung, Hitachi, SONY, Verily, Intuitive Surgical, Activ Surgical, Zoom, Olympus, Stryker, HP, and Zimmer-Biomet.
